Critical Infrastructure Projects: PrimeBatch Support Concrete Batching Plants in Australia at Snowy 2.0

Read

PrimeBatch is proud to support the ongoing operation of four SIMEM concrete batching plants on the Snowy 2.0 project, one of Australia’s most significant and complex infrastructure developments. Delivering concrete in this environment demands more than capacity alone – it requires absolute reliability, flexibility, and the ability to operate consistently across extreme hot and cold conditions. These concrete batching plants have been engineered specifically to meet those challenges, ensuring uninterrupted supply for critical infrastructure works where downtime is not an option.

Operating in alpine conditions places unique demands on a concrete batching plant. Temperature variation, remote access, and high production requirements all play a role. The plants at Snowy 2.0 are equipped with SIMEM twin-shaft batch mixers, capable of providing exceptional mixing performance and consistency, even with complex mix designs, fibres, and demanding specifications required for structural and mass concrete applications.

To support continuous production, the plants feature high-volume storage capacity for powders and aggregates, with options for further expansion as project demands evolve. Integrated fibre dosing systems enable precise and repeatable addition of fibres, supporting advanced concrete mixes used throughout the project. Containerised service units streamline maintenance and servicing while protecting critical systems from harsh environmental conditions—an essential feature for long-term infrastructure projects in remote locations.

An example of a Snowy 2.0 project success is the production of over 130,000 massive tunnel segments, required to line the inside of the project’s 27km tunnel. This enormous effort has required over 550,000 tonnes of well-mixed concrete to be produced. (https://www.cloughgroup.com/news/snowy-2-0-update-130,000-concrete-segments)

Designed for speed, scalability, and resilience, the SIMEM concrete batching plantsat Snowy 2.0, supported by PrimeBatch, are built to adapt as project demands evolve. With rapid mobilisation, modular expansion options, and systems engineered for Australia’s harshest climates, these plants demonstrate how robust concrete batching solutions play a critical role in delivering the nation’s most important infrastructure projects.

From Twin Bin to Twin Towers: PrimeBatch Expands Concrete Batching Plant Options in Australia

Read

PrimeBatch is proud to showcase the presence of the SIMEM ZingoDos twin-bin dry batching plant concrete plant, available in Australia now. The PrimeBatch team recently enjoyed their second visit to Mansfield PreMix to see this plant in operation. For those that don’t know, this SIMEM plant was purpose-built for consistent, high-quality concrete production, designed with reliability, accuracy, and output in mind.

At the heart of this configuration is the twin-bin aggregate system, featuring two 8m³ loading hoppers, each mounted on load cells with digital feedback to the loader driver. This setup allows operators to load one bin while batching from the other, maximising efficiency and reducing cycle times to achieve batching speeds comfortably in the region of 90m3 per hour. The plant includes a 3.5m³ cement weigh hopper supplied from up to four silos, a high-accuracy water system measured via induction flowmeter, and multiple admixture lines, all metered through flowmeters to ensure precise dosing on every batch.

Dust control and operator comfort have also been carefully considered. A dedicated dust extraction system in the loading bay captures airborne material and intelligently returns it into the next mix, reducing waste, and saving costs. Everything is managed from a central operator cabin, with the MCC running the proven Dorner Electronic batching software, delivering dependable performance, intuitive control, and full visibility over the entire concrete batching process.

Importantly, the twin-bin plant layout in Mansfield, Victoria, is just one version of the dry batching plant range that PrimeBatch and SIMEM deliver across Australia. In 2026, PrimeBatch are releasing their range of tower batching plant options. With silos elevated off the ground, a smaller footprint and more compact site operation is available.

Stay tuned for more info in 2026, as PrimeBatch continues to redefine concrete batching plant solutions across Australia.

Why Contractors Are Choosing Modular Batching Plants

Read

An increasing number of contractors are moving toward modular batching plants — and for good reason. Modular systems significantly reduce project risk and remove much of the complexity associated with traditional plant builds.

Solutions such as the SIMEM MMX5000 and the BISON dry batching and mobile pugmill range minimise the need for extensive civil works, streamline approval processes, and allow concrete production to commence weeks earlier than conventional construction methods.

At PrimeBatch, we’re seeing modular plants selected more often where project timelines are compressed, site access is constrained, and every operational hour counts.

The outcome is clear: greater certainty, faster commissioning, and improved uptime — a smarter approach to batching.

If you’re considering modular batching plants for your 2026 projects, contact PrimeBatch to explore and compare the available options.

PrimeBatch: With You Every Step of the Way

Read

PrimeBatch supply concrete batching plants – whether it’s a new plant, or an upgrade or expansion – we’ve got you covered.

What we don’t do though, is hand you a 1-2 page quote and wish you luck.

We support across the entire project lifecycle – from the initial concept, to your long-term success.

Engage with us early and we can help at the pre-design stage with concept drawings of plant layouts on your site, incl. traffic flows and other optioneering, to suit your production needs and can make allowances for future growth.

As projects progress, we continue to support design development and make sure your plant is properly optioned – not over-specified, but not missing anything either.

By the time you reach tender stage (where we’ll submit our offer alongside others), you’ll have clearly defined equipment specifications. That means a true apples-for-apples comparison, fewer surprises later, and a smoother transition into detailed design – where last-minute changes almost always cost time and money.

And it doesn’t stop there.

We stay involved through installation, construction, and commissioning, and we back it all up with ongoing after-sales technical support and spare parts supply. When we commit to the success of your operation, we genuinely have skin in the game from day one.

If you’re planning a new batching plant or an upgrade, talk to us early – it makes all the difference.

Australian Adoption of GCCA Global Ratings for Low-Carbon Concrete

Read

In December 2025, Australia’s concrete industry made an important step forward with the adoption of the GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association’s low carbon concrete rating system.

The GCCA framework adoption, led by the Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia, removes confusion around “low-carbon” claims and aligns Australia with a globally recognised rating system, that sits comfortably alongside the existing Australian EPD methodology.

The new rating system covers concrete strengths from 5–100 MPa with ratings ranging from AA through to G. With public procurement the largest driver of demand, clarity and consistency matter more than ever.

At PrimeBatch, together with our world-class equipment partner Simem Group S.p.A., we understand what this shift really means in practice — and how batching plant design and equipment must support it.

So how does our equipment help enable low carbon concrete outcomes?

Our plants deliver precision, flexibility, and control, supporting:

  • Accurate dosing and repeatability for blended and low-carbon cements, fibre and admix dosing systems
  • Multiple cement and SCM streams (slag, fly ash, limestone, calcined clays), with split-silo / modular configurations available
  • Full materials traceability and data capture to support compliance and reporting, including plant energy efficiency data capture
  • High-accuracy moisture measurement and real-time correction

Low-carbon concrete isn’t about compromise. It’s about having the right tools to execute smarter mix designs, at scale.

At PrimeBatch, we design and supply batching plants that are ready for where the Australian market is heading.
